Hi bbb,
Could i find out how i can get a research fellowship & what kind of visa would i need for something like that?
Can i also ask about one of the programs which said that it's residents not only become a resident in the hospital but also a fellow in clinical medicine in the affliated university medical school. What does the fellow position mean & how does that affect the overall picture? It is just another empty title or do you get a phd at the end of it?????

No clue on the research fellowship, sorry. And I do believe that it's an empty title. My staff guys have that for our university affiliate and they laugh and say that the only thing that it's good for is to get free use of the library. :wink:

Thanks bbb I guess a fellow of clnical medicine must sound very good & impressive to get it added on.
BTW i was wondering about this next q for a very long time coming. I see residents in their second year wearing their names & M.D. at the back. don;t you get a MD certification if you pass the boards or am i mistakened there? What is M.D????

Most of my IMGs have an MBBS or MBChB degree. But most patients in the US don't have a clue what that means. Most states offer two medical licenses - MD and DO. My residents use MD even though they don't really have one. It's not a big deal. The ones that feel really strongly about it just have "Dr." in front of their name, nothing after it.
The really anal ones have "Dr" before their name and their degree after it. That's overkill.
