same as categorical internships, with a bit different scheduling. Meant for someone only wanting a 1 year position (so they can go on to radio, anaesthesia, etc.). Count toward training for board exams (versus transitional) but you are not guaranteed the position for the last two years.

How do we distinguish trasitional from preliminary ?
they both are for 1 yr ,both have same rotations .
