1. Could M. tuberculosis produce exotoxins or endotoxin? 2. In the pathogenesis of TB, what are the roles of the three genes "katG, rpoV, and erp" and the proteins which they encode ? In addition, what are the roles of lipomannan (LM) and lipoarabinomannan (LAM)? Thank you in advance! Gary

1) It would not be an endotoxin-The virulence is due to "wax" cord factor (trehalose myolate)inhibit mitochondria sulfolipods inhibit phagosome lysosome fusion 2)We could write an encyclopedia on Tb/Ill lave this for the next guy!!

The second part of the second q I may have seen in passing. But the first part is not in any of our most popular books and MAY be too detailed for step 1. Just my opinion, especially if "bactitech" doesnt have a snappy answer for this.
