hello, Do not feel down but there are some graduates from UdeG doing their residency in Baylor. They passed the Nacional but they took Step1 during the same period and they decided to continue on this USMLE path. Some have taken the USMLE also but since they were accepted into the surgery program in EL Hospital Civil de Guadalajara they decided to stay in Guadalajara. As you know not anyone is accepted into this program specially if you are from the UAG. do not feel down and I am pretty sure you will be able to make it here in the US. do not loose focus. Good Luck! Enrique

thank you so much for your reply, it was surprising to me that you knew about residencies in GDL. Your message really motivated me. =D> I wonder where did you study medicine in Mexico and how long? I am pretty sure too, you will be able to make it here in the US in an excellent way!! Good luck in your next test :icon_thumb:

I study in UAG class of 2000. I did my social service in region V(cda. guzman). I was the only one from UAG in that area. I began doing my service out in the boonies( La Laja) Region IX Ameca. But I was able to move to a more civilized area. There are some people here that are from UdeG(Chema). Good Luck adn study and study!

Come on Exon, you can do it. I'm from UdG, too, I'm now doing my residency in Gdl in general surgery, R1, but I'm definitively more interested in the usmle, I have passed step 1 and now I'm preparing for step 2 CK, I plan to quit my residency in Mexico at the beginning of the R2 and study very hard to get a real good score in the rest of steps. I'm sure I will do it well. You know, we can do it, really. I will give you an example, right now, in this moment, there are 3 mexican residents in the Mayo Clinic, in rochester, , 2 R1 and 1 R5, it's possible. If you really wish to make your residency and live in US, try it and do it. See you

Hi, I'm from Guadalajara too, and I just finished my residency in Urology, so, don't be afraid. I'm here in the USA pursuing another residency in Internal Medicine, even when is not related to my original specialty (wich, by the way, is completely opposite 'cause is surgical). I would like to start Urology again in this country, but aparently it's really difficult for IMG's to enter in an urology program, since it's a very competitive specialty. So, my message is: take it easy, don't worry if you don't have any specialty now: anyway, it won't work in here if you plan to stay.
