the fatty change in the kwashiorkor patients is brought about by a mechanism that is different to that of an alcoholic patient. please discuss.

In kwashiorkor you lose proteins, hence the liver is incapable of making apolipoproteins which are needed for transportation of the lipids, and so they accumulate causing a fatty liver.

In alcohol, the NADH/NAD ratio is increased, and incrase NADH means more fat synthesis, and away from glycolosis.
