Hi all!........
I just got back from giving my Step 2 CK exam...and what an exam it was...I had a few strange questions ( 3 pure non clinical biochem Qs and one basic non clinical immunology Q in one block)...but over all the exam was vague at best.....
as always Qs were either very hard or just plain unbelievably simple...mostly hard sad....Im not too sure I did a good job...well....now ill have to wait for 6 weeks....torture sad
The exam was mostly Int med...cardio/gastro/endo mostly....a lot of GYne and psych......and abt 6 questions basic epi/biostats...There wasnt a lot of peds (Thank God)...For surgery..I felt Kaplan lecture notes were more than enough....Qs in surgery were pretty straightforward....
I'll give a detailed account of what books i used etc etc when i get my score smiling face...Ill be happy to answer any questions...

Hi sk!

Congrates on finishing the exam! Let's pray that you aced it!

Can you tell us what do you exactly mean by qs were hard???? Is it just becuase too detailed qs or it's becuase of umfamiliar stuff? Did you had a lot of wierd things never heard of before or things you heard but not sure of them?

It would be very helpful if you tell us what materials you have used!!!!!

Thank you for your time and help!

hi....and thanks ELM..
What I meaN when i say the questions were hard is that even after thinking over the question and answering...ur not really sure abt it...The Qs that were difficult were mostly management Qs.....the next best step kind of a thing....
But basically the exam went much better than step 1..that was a terror... smiling face.....
I had only One Q on the exam which i had heard nothing abt...otherwise it was mostly stuff i knew...
The materials I used were the kaplan lecture notes for all subjects...plus I tore out the Gyne vignettes from High yield gyne...theyre helpful.. and I did Qbank/qbook.....Cardio and Emergency medicine from First aid as a supplement..CMDT for reference....and crush step 2.....
Good luck for your exam!.

Yes i took it last week too, be prepared to read fast and understand fast. Step 1 i was able to finish each block with 15 to 20 min left. This step 2, i only had 3 to 4 minutes left per block.

Blueprint series are the books recommended, they have the style of questions that are used in USMLE. What is the next Step in management?

Questions are lengthy, somewhat little hard, some with options from a to m.

Good Luck....
