Hmmm... I guess this year is going to be utter chaos for IMGs especially those who want to take the step 3 asap for H1 VISA reqquirements.. the place where I did observers... were reviewing my application... & they DIDNT know that not being ECFMG certification is not the IMGs fault! & that no IMGs will be ECFMG certified currently due to the delay in the CS results inspite of having taken the CS in mid August. I had to talk to the Prog Co ord as she hurriedly called me when she saw my application was "incomplete" & after explaining to her.. she was going to go & speak to the faculty involved in the selection process about the prob with IMG application. As a rule.. they dont call IMGs if they are not ECFMG certified. In addition she called the other specialities prog co ords & even they hadnt got a clue about this new CS reult requirement to be ECFMG certified & that the results declaration is still unknown! Besides ... needless to say.. they are fairly busy the whole day.. to scan through various web confusing sites of ECFMG & read through every line..which in many instances is not clear anyway!!

This was only 1 hospital where somehow I was involved.. I wonder about the many others where we dont have acces to any kind of information other than "at this time your application is not reviewed or not elligible for interview" . Needless to say.. has the ECFMG informed the hospitals in a written notice about the lapse in the application process timeline? Is it that having the ECFMG certification by Match deadline is not enough.. many hospitals need it even for considering the application of an IMG..let alone inviting for interview...ranking for the post!

I wonder if it is worthwhile letting hospitals know about the ECFMG certification delay?

BBB, as a prog co ord.. do you think it is only few hospitals that are oblivious to the above fact or it is the ominous truth about many specialities in various hopsitals.. what about your hospital & your colleagues? Thanks in advance for your opinion.
