hi bbb and friends,

when i called a doctor and asked for a chance of observationship, she said as per HIPPA it is not allowed..(that other than employers no one should observe case details)..is this true..please help.. :?

I'am in the same situation, but for legal porpuses we are out of the game...how in the world they want us to have US experience????? :|

Hi,

about 97%of the doors we knock will tell like that .But donot loose hope.Try knocking other doors,keep doing that ,i am sure there r still 3% people who r ready to offer /help.

I did the same thing ,tried hard to build network ,reached physicians through friends friends friends....long chain..but inshAllah I shall never give up until i get into residency.

Got externship with UW Internal med professor ,now likely to get involved in clinics with UW another physician( family practice)..what i believe is its very difficult on west coast ,since we donot have IMG friendly hospitals ,but it worked for me,thankGod .So for you it will be more easy ....just keep trying .

you won't believe I got another externship with Us family practice physician ( 11 hours per week) and another research project ( this time clinical research) .

Thanks to Almighty for His kindness towards me .

because of the new HIPPA or HEPA laws they are not allowed to have observerships in most hospitals now.... and this just happened recently but what you can do is ask a physician if you can come into their private practice clinics or something.... most will still allow you to do that.... but i guess now hospitals are off limits to us....

It's the truth - technically, I can't even see patient information because my position doesn't call for me to be looking at records. The only exception would be the hospitals who actually have an official observership program - even then, you wouldn't be able to handle a medical record.

it all depends on the physician who gets u to sign a confidential letter ( university based ) and thus he can allow u to do so .

I am doing it and they have no probs with me looking into it.
