Hi,
does anyone know if we have to do PAM HUGS FOSS in a patient who is fatally ill....cases such as "terminal cancer asking for pain medication"?
Thanks for your reply!

I seriously doubt you will have a patient like that. Most of the encounters are new patient visits (some ER) with something pretty simple. If you had a terminally ill cancer pt, theres not much to get from the patient in terms of history (maybe quality of life from progression of the disease), but you wouldnt have a differential, or anything...pretty dead end situation. Focus on the common clinic complaints as a primary then ER complaints as a secondary. If youre well prepared for clinics, ER shouldnt be a prob. The main difference most likely being the intensity of the pain (chronic vs acute).
Good Luck
