Kaplan Qbank USMLE

I took the exam on october 26 ,needed a few days to recup. I need to write my experience since this forum has been so helpful for me.
The exam is strenuous so rest the night before the exam is essential Also make sure you take high protein snacks or , since carbs can give you an initial burst but then make you quite sleepy.Anyway I studied like everyone form kaplan lecture notes, complemented with high yield neuro, anato, immuno and pharma. These high yields are excellent. Also did BRS physiology and pathology.Did Goljan lectures , but started late and was unable to finish, big mistake he is excellent and this is a must.

The exam was basically pathophysio, more than anything, subject wise renal was heavily tested, they like ADh and differences between ECF and ICF and factors that change them. Also know your diuretics and level they work at , look at first aid pharma . Cardio ,must know all the murmurs goljan explains it wonderfully. Must know physiology of contraction. Pulmonology, know restrictive and obstruction graghs
. Definitely learn all equations for calculation in firsta aid , calculate GFR and PUlmonology as well. endocrino, learn thyroid and parathyroid , but everything is necessary, they like hormones. Pharma must know psych meds and interactions with other meds Behavioural, Qbank is very good only through practice will you uget these questions. Anatomy , one angiogram of the shoulder, neuro, you must know huntington, parkinsosn like I said high yield is enough, for all subjects make sure you complement with webpath.Ct scan asking to locate vena cava used in question of SVC syndrome in lung cancer. Biochem , not heavily tested , yet need to know everything since you never what questions they will ask.
Ididnot have much question in biostats or molecular.Idont think i did so well in this last two. IN conclusion study everything , and learn memorize first aid, it is so important. All the info has to be inscripted on your brain and not superficially but deep. Goljan excellent for integration , with his jokes he makes you remember evrything. Most ofall try to keep calm, this has a great influence on your performance Remeber you cant know everything so the dont get discouraged when you mess up one block there a total of seven. Most of all keep the faith and prayer.
Good luck to everyone. I donot know how I did, but I plan to take a 1 month vacation overseas , and forget for a while. If passed great if not keep trying until I conquer. We must remeber we are all doctors already and no one can take that from us. May God be with you all.

Good luck, Nico! And go overseas, have fun, and try to detach yourself from this as much as possible. This is what I did after I took Step 2 at the beginning of August; I had to wait 6 weeks for the results and in the meantime I was not planning to go nuts. I went to Montreal and then when I came back home, I signed up with Netflix and watched a ton of movies. And I got the results when I almost forgot about them; and they were good smiling face
So, good luck again, and have fun!

Has anyone reapplied for step 1 before the score report was up and was allowed to reapply again?

hey rhonda,
just wondering if u tried to reapply for the step1 without the score report up on oasis? if, so did they allow u to reapply? I know it doesn't mean anything since our scores are not up but just getting a little scared...

Hi abiguar79
No way am I going to try that trick until they update the score report in the oasis. It would only cause me (and I guess you too) unnecessary anxiety. So I guess let's just keep our hopes up and wait...wait...wait =)
