WHat is your background? As in how long ago were you in med school and how fresh was the material when you started studying? I think based on that, if you have forgotten most of the stuff, maybe start from scratch, like I failed once, but this time, i feel more confident, only because I have been doing well on the nbme exams. Have to have faith in God, He really will get you through it. Maybe take a live kaplan course, so if you are weak in certian areas, you can meet with the teacher and get them to help you out, and i think your materials are fine, and try not to take tooo long also, because one tends to start forgetting. I wish you all the best, and admire you for continuing.

Thank you for answering me.I was graduate in december 2000 and i came to the states in 2001 with my wife.actualy she is the only one working and she is supporting me a lot.i don't think i'll be able to pay for the live lectures and i don't think i have any problems about the lectures.Actually i am working too juste to help a little and i am not gonna be able to pass the step1 until next year and i don't have even a time to study during the week.I think my problem this time was questions because i didn't do a lot ,only q bank and q bank and some questions from BSS.Do you think i should do NBME???if it's indispensable how can i get it?(i heard that it is really expensive),and thank you so mush for the support.Waitting for answers.

Well questions do help a lot, most people say, qbank, nbme, BSS, are good sources and these are the most commonly used. How did you do these questions, because I personally find that the best way to do questions is not by subject, beceause that is not usually representative of your score cuz usually we tend to take a subject test rite after studying the subject and so end up doing well and think we know everything about the subject. i think Qbank is great, but try to do randome questions of 50 because thats how the real test is and then you get the whole big picture and get to see where you are weak and stuff. Nbme cost 45 dollars per exam, because there are two exams with four blocks of questions each. I have only done one and plan to do the second one closer to my exam. From what I have heard, they are great and really do correlate with your score. My friend just recently got his scores and the nbme showed him to barely pass and thats exactly what he got. Again have faith in God and yea dont forget to also do questions from the USMLE CD that is sent, my friend had a lot of repeated questions from that CD and kaplan provides a detailed explanation of all the answers on that CD. And also supplement your studying with the one and only Dr. Goljan, he really puts everything in perspective. I wish you all the best.

If I were you, I will start from the bottom with BRS HY, and try to memorize them do what Goljan said memorize them from the start to the end and from the end to the first page, should not have a problem because you just grade a few years ago.

Questions are very important but remmember you never will be the same auestion againd, so you have to eat each question, probable,I am not sure but could also be that you have some distractors, make a room and stay in there until you read all the BRS the one that you are weak and do a lot of question if you can do 6000 question well done.

Wish the best. Be patient this country has a place for you in the medical field.
