Hi everyone,

Why is Factor IX also called Christmas factor?
According to the information I found on the internet,
it's named after the patient, Stephen Christmas,
who was the first case to be studied.
Is it true?

Regards,

Gary

This appears to give a minor insight...

And I know everyone posts at Pathology, but you really think it belongs here?..

Well lets tun it into a good q:
What happens to the PT,PTT, clotting time, bleeding time in classical hemophilia and Xmas disease?

Since part of intrinsic pathway, only PTT will be prolonged, and everything else will be normal.

OK.....but

if you were to chose a bleeding parameter only what test would you go with then?

if you were to go by genetic inheritance what would you see?

  #9

no difference then!!
