hi, here is my situation: i got married to an american and have an employment authorization and i am exspecting my green card next year. so i have no visa issues. i passed step 1 and step 2 (94/95) and am awaiting csa results. so scores are fine. i have great LoR from american docs and have 8 mo of experience in the states.I applied for FP and just got one interview so far. is FP that competitive here for IMG's? how are yor experiences? thanks for answering! ps: by the way, i didnt get married for the visa! i never even planned to come to the states, well, you never know

hi even i have EAD. I applied forIM and i got couple of interviews. but the thing is that i applied to nearly 60 programs. u have got excellent scores. and other 2 positive things for u are u r lors from here n u r us experience. i think u should try applying to another 30 programs. as far as i know fp is not competitive. ALL THE BEST.

Hi docgerm! Would you please tell us what kind of things did you do for USCE for 8 months????..Externship? Observership? or work?????? Please share your experience with us!?!?!?! I am just wondering that........ you credentails seem very good..... so what the FP PD's looking for more??????? Perhaps you applied to top programms? or AMG popular programs?????/ If yes...... think about applying less compatitive and community hospital programs....may be? Good luck!

hey thats really strange with credentials like that and no visa issues....ita really hard to believe.... i also applied for fp...just have step 1 score so far...applied to 30 programs... i think fp pds are still reviewing applications and will send bulk interviews in coming 2 wks....just a thought i got a mail today from an fp program in sc saying they r reviewing applications and will inform as soon as the decision is made it may be that u applied to top notch programs....but with those scores that is what u shud do esp for fp program.... wish u all the best

hi,thanks for your replies, i feel better now, i guess, i'll just wait a little longer... and i applied to competitive programs as well as less competitive ones. my clinical experiences persisited of 8 mo of rotations, comparable to 4th year american students. i was lucky that my home school allowed me to spend most of my final year abroad, so i had the chance to do rotations here. thanks again for your input and i wish all of you guys good luck with your application as well!

hi, i guess sending follow up emails cant hurt... i might do the same for the programs where i wanna get an interview but didnt hear from them yet. if anything in your application is not clear or completed you could try to explain why.maybe that will make them rethink!

Was talking to US students today, and they said lots this year are applying to Family Practice because it is less competitive and can get it wherever they want. So that might explain the trouble people are having with it this year.
