As i remember k is the elimination rate constant. And Vd is stated as the dose of Drug X given / plasma conc of drug X Cl=UxV/P Cl=k xVd k may be very similar to the UxV the denominators are the same And there is particular ratio for Vd depending on the pharmacokinetics of Drug X.
