That's a hard question to answer as different hospitals, programs and specialties have different criteria. What score will have you accepted into Family Practice, won't get you an interview in General Surgery. What should be stressed is that you need to get the absolute highest score possible to ensure that you will interview and ultimately match in the best program for you. The program that I have seen have average USMLE scores in the 85-88 range (combine scores, then average). In the same hospital, the FP or surgery program will have different criteria. :icon_profileleft: this answer provided by bbb

The match is a service provided by the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program at http://www.nrmp.org/res_match/ This is a good place to start for match information. People are just starting to apply through ERAS and NRMP for the 2004 application season. We will know more about the dates in 6-8 months for 2005! You can apply to ERAS prior to passing the CSA - here is a quote from ECFMG: ERAS applicants who are not yet certified must obtain ECFMG Certification before starting a post-graduate training program. It is solely the responsibility of the ERAS applicant to satisfy all ECFMG Certification requirements (passing USMLE Step 1 and Step 2, the English Language Proficiency Test, and the Clinical Skills Assessment as well as documenting the completion of all requirements for, and receipt of, the final medical diploma [and, effective February 1, 2004, the final medical school transcript], which must be verified by ECFMG directly with the medical school). ERAS fees will not be refunded for any reason http://www.ecfmg.org/eras/index.html All this once again thanks to bbb

Good answers all around - residents in my IM program have USMLE scores in the mid-high eighties. Unfortunately, there is no general criteria for all the programs in the country. Speaking with other coordinators, what they want from applicants is different that I want. Of course the bottom line is the same - the best quality physician. Good luck
