Hello everyone: I am sorry to say that I just found out about this website and I must say that I wish I had found it sooner when I was preparing for the exam. Anyway, the way that I have felt since yesterday is sort of comparable with being in shock, because I really dont have any strong emotions on did I do well or not. It sort of feels like 200 of those questions seemed like i knew the answer and the rest were really up in the air. At this point I am wondering if this is normal, and if it is what does that mean for my future score. As a reference I studied for 2 and a half months (pretty much dedicated to it), used the kaplan books, qbank, qiv, first aid. First time around in kaplan I got a 79%, and second time total 85%. If any of you could please help me work through these moments of not knowing what to expect, I would really appreciate it. As far as giving advice for the exam, I think I will wait until I can reset my brain and I can analize what I think would benefit everyone. Thank you for anyone that has read this. dusc999

I forgot to mention that I got a 640 on NBME 1 and 690 on NBME 2. I apologize for focusing on something so trivial specially when I have taken the exam and there is nothing to do but wait, but I am sure a lot of people understand have gone thru the same anxieties. As far as what I suggest for studying for the boards. I think qbank and qIV are really good resources, but I think that when you get to the point that you know the answers by just reading a sentence then, you have to move on from them. The NBME appear to be similar to the actual thing but I am not sure how good the correlation is between those scores and the scores in the actual exam. I used the rapid review step 1 cd which was good, but sometimes went into too much detail. There is also a rapid review book, which I believe has too much detail and will probably make you focus on things that are not that important. As my main resources I used kaplan's organ based books, which I thougth had everything that you could ask for, plus the way it is organized I think is really helpful. First Aid I used as a resource that I could carry around, or as a fast way to refer to things that were grouped together, like the branchial arches, or all the Autosomal Dominant diseases. I hope this info helps out. And I would appreciate any feedback that anyone has on my anxieties.

Could you please tell me what the difference is between q bank and q iv? Q bank I know you can enroll in kaplan, but I have no idea what the other one is.

Q IV is the integrated vignetes, which you an get access through the kaplan website. I think they are helpful, and give you a more accurate reproduction of what step 1 exam questions are like. Hope this helps.
