What is the difference between clerkship and observership?

  #2

Clerkship is for medical students. Clerkship and internship for students sometimes have the term used interchangeably.

Externship is hands on training. Few and few between.

Observership is just that, you observe patient care.

Thanks, bbb! When are clerkship and oberservership done in a US medical school and what do students do exactly during clerkship?

BTW, is externship for medical students as well?

I suppose it would depend on what service you would be working on. The students here basically work with an intern performing patient care.

An externship is post graduate work - not students.
