Should I buy it? I don't have QBank. I have First Aid 2004, review books some from BRS and others High Yield. Have a lot of question books from a friend who took the exam about 2 years ago. Also Clinical Vignettes collection(9 of them). Is this good? Is this Kaplan Medical USMLE Step 1 Home Study Program worth it? Thanks.

hi, kmais... I am using the Kaplan Home Study Program Kit. I am not sure how you study... but I bought it because I use the system-based approach when studying. I used it as main book for the review... I read it... then if something there is not so clear. I read more about the topic somewhere else like Lippincott, BRS, Hi-yield, etc. It's like my main guide and then the other books are just to supplement. So I plan to read it first... then do Q bank and other questions. Q bank is also highly recommended. But its good that you have a lot of review questions. We should be answering as many questons as we can. Should you buy it? - If you like the system-based approach of studying, I think you should. I hope this helps

I'm not sure about the other stuffs in Kaplan... but there is a 7 volume lecture notes from Kaplan that I don't think is system-based. Simply because it's one book per subject. But I think you can still use them even if you want system-based review. I did that before with BRS and Liipincott, etc. For example I want to study Cardio... I read anatomy of the heart from made ridiculously simple, embyo heart hi yield, then BRS physio of heart, then BRS Patho of heart... then Lippincott Pharma of cardiovascular system. I'm sure not sure about the pros and cons. But for me... its just easier to understand if the approach is system-based. Yes, I have studied per subject before too... way back in medical school. But after graduation... I did system-based approach (like for the med licensure exam in my country)

Is this better than the Kaplan Books (biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, etc)?

Home study program is more detailed than kaplan lecture notes, some people believe it has lots of unnecessary stuff.
