Hi all you guys!
I am new in this forum. God knows how much I would like to know you all before I took step 1 :? .... Today Ive got my score: 85/209.
I am an IMG from Latin America, graduated on 2001, planning to match on 2006. Right now working as an assistant physician in a private hospital and doing research there.
I am planning to do an IM residence first and then an ID fellowship.
But today,I am very worried about what are my chances in order to get a good residence position. I didnt have US clinical experience so not LORs frm US docs. I have a poster presentation on a US congress and an article publication on a US journal.
What can you advice me to do now?... what else should I do for improving my CV? Is that true that the scores on steps strongly define which are your possibilities for a residence position?... am I too bad with the 85/209 step 1 score?
Please help me with your answers... will it be correct to encourage myself to continue with the research work at my private hospital? do publications in US journals helps?... or better look for an observer(externship?
... what else to do and how?
Thank you so much... every single person here in this forum is so kind that I feel sorry I missed the opportunity to share with you all my experiences and concerns before... but is not too late, isnt it?
I was reading BBB posts and I think she is amazing on how she helps lots of people throughout this forum!!... inspirational... hope someday I could be a counselor for others as she is now for all of us. smiling face
