It means that the number for H1b visas are filled until October 2005. Not a good thing unless your program isn't affected by the H1b cap.

Hi BBB,

First of all I want to thank you for ur kind reply. I really appreciate for ur precious time and genuine advice you give to everybody :icon_salut:

I thought every residency program must have it's own quota of H1 visas bcos as per i know every year H1 positions are filled prior to interviews(though this year it includes next years' too)then how can they sponsor H1b if they don't have their own quota???

It's a federal cap, not a per program cap. What is capped in a program is the number of residents that can be hired. That number directly relates to the number of in-patient days, the number of residency and fellowships at a hospital.

Many hospitals that are university based or sponsored are cap-exempt.

The federal government mandates the number of H1B visas that are available each year. That number is the "CAP" (probably short for capacity). When that number is reached, it's called reaching the cap. Meaning that there are no more H1b visas available.
