To the best of my knowledge IgA can't activate complement but I think it can fix it though.

compliment activation means alteration of the compliment components (protiens) in such a way that it can proceed to intract with the other component in the pathway ...initiate a cascade
compliment fixation means utilization of compliment components by antigen antibody complex
