I took my step 1 yesterday.I already had a feeling I wasn't ready for it but took a chance .I am an old old img.Got my hand ful lwith home, kids and other family related stuff.I study when my kids go to school.Usually I don't get much chance to study on weekends.
Now here is what I think about this test.It wasn't out of this world but definitely one (if not more)step more than my knowledge.I 'll be starting my studies again in few days(for step1).
I am so numb that even though I am trying but I am not able to recall any questions or even what subject was what %.Let me try my best to recall.Overall I wud say it covered everthing.There was alot of patho and Pharma(my nightmare).
Patho:There were at least 2-3 blood smear slides in each block.Few EM,quite a few head cts.one abd ct, pharma graphs.
Physio:Qs with up and down arrows.
Pharma.A lot of straight qs about drug's MOA but unfurtunately I did not know them.There were few graphs.
Beh Sc.Good # of qs.Luckily I just got 2 calculations.
Biochemistry: Wasn't that hard.
Anatomy.Mostly brain and few lower limb.
Micro: there were just few qs.
I am sorry as I said earlier I don't remember much.
Timewise it wasn't bad.I cud finish every block 5-10 min a head of time.
I think it is doable if u study thoroughly.
Hardly few qs were the kind u say "what r they talking about?"Most of the qs were familiar kind but in the end what they wud ask either I did not have any clue or I knew I read it but didnot bother to remember it.Bottom line I learned that it is not doable with superficial knowledge.I am not surprized or shocked cz I knew already that I wasn't quit ready.So I be restarting my studies again after a short break.
I am sorry my posting might not give u much info but that is all I cud think of.If u have any qs ,feel free to ask I'll try my best to answer them.
Oh yeah.I read everything from Kaplan.Tried reading FA 10 day b4 exam but felt it wasn't a good idea,so went back to my kaplan books.But this time I am planning to read FA too along with Kaplan.Also I used Webprep and Goljan lecture( sure helped me for a lot of questions).My qbank score was 64%.Just did it once.Usmle cd 38,37 and38.
I did not do too many qs and I think that was also one of my weakness.I knew it but never had enuf time to study and do qs at the same time.
My final word.Don't take it easy.Read everything and read it well.A lot ppl pass it so why can we.We have to give our best to pass.I am not too excited to know about my result but wud let u guys know when I get it.Good luck to u all.
