Hey you guys,
I took Step 1 on Septmeber the 7th (a Tuesday), and my score was reported according to Oasis on September the 29th.
I passed, I am very happy and I wish you all the same.
I want to thank all the nice people who took time out of their busy schedules to respond to people in need of help, advice and support. That means a lot. I see posts that have been viewed I don't know how many times but not answered even once. I, myself have been guilty of not responding, too, and I feel very bad for that.
I am an "old" IMG, and I work full time. There were times when I felt like I wasn't gonna be able to pull this job off, times when I didn't know who I was anymore (at work beeing asked if I was an RN, which I wasn't , I was saying I was only an MA...). Well, it was possible, it is possible, anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself, you work hard and you have faith!
I used the books that were recommended all over the place, the Kaplan Notes and Dr Goljan's audios and books. His materials are an awesome source, I am telling you. I am not in any way affiliated with Kaplan or Dr Goljan, it is just that through my personal experience I have come to this conclusion. His audios and books are golden!
I also used the 3 mo QBank.
Study hard, believe in yourselves and go for it!

hi friscan2b... you said you worked as an MA and is an IMG... I'm also IMG and working as MA. May I please know if MA is already enough to be labelled as US clinical experience?

MA is medical assistant - takes vital signs, weight, height... set patient appointments, etc

Unfortunately MA work does not account as clinical experience in the way the program directors mean it. I know it's tough, but we can do it, oh yes, we can do it and we will. There is no doubt in my mind. It is amaizing how passing one of these exams can boost up yopur confidence. So, please fellow foreign trained docs, believe in yourselves and go for it! Anything is possible!
