Hi, I checked my oasis and it says Credentials received but do not meet ECFMG requirements...Has anybody else had the same problem??
Please,please let me know. Thanks

Hi
I had the same problem and when i called them they said they had not yet send my Credentials for verification and once the get the verification of both my medical school diploma as well as transcripts then only i will meet the requirements.
I dont think there is anything to worry.in any case u can call them if u still want to clarify.

It is taking them a long time to review documents. Once they get the verifications from your medical schools, it takes 8-10 weeks for them to review the documents and for it to show up on OASIS as received.

Just so you guys know, it is taking 10-15 weeks for them to review the verifications. I just called today (for my bf).
I've been calling regularly. At first they said 6-8 weeks, then they said 8-10, I called them after the diploma verification had been sitting around for 11 weeks and they say now it takes 10-15 weeks to review...

This was after they let the transcript sit around for 6 weeks before sending it out!! ECFMG seemed completely baffled that the transcript was in ENGLISH (sent from Germany). I could not help but be sarcastic and ask, "Would you rather have it in German?" The guy answered that he wasn't sure and had to check. At least he finally sent it out.

Keep on checking! I hope the verification gets done in time for the match. Don't let it slip.

The credentials have finally been verified.
It took between 5-6 months.
Get started on it early.

I've found the same message just few days ago, and I was very surprised, because I thought that everything was fine with my credentials since when I took the step 1 and step 2. Maybe they need to verify all over againg. Does anybody know?
Anyway I have only submitted the electonic application, and I will call and ask them today about the credentials. Do I need to send also the form 344 and 345?

You can take the exams on the basis of photocopied documents. However, they have to send everything they get (whether from you or the med school) back to your med school for verification. First it takes weeks for them to send it out. Then it takes weeks for them to acknowledge the date they received them. Then it takes another 6-8 weeks for them to review them and "verify them."
I don't think you need to send another form. You can call and check.
You can only be ECFMG certified after they've verified your credentials (and passed all the exams).

I called them yesterday: the new requirements (2004) include also the medical transcripts (the courses taken with the grades), that I did not send before when I applied for step 1 and 2 in 2002. Remember then to send those with your form 183.

What do you mean by new requirement? My transcipts are already verified by ECFMG about 3 months ago but they never mentioned anything missing like grade transcripts (I did not send it along with the form 183). Shall I contact them again? even though OASIS says my credentials are verified and completed?

I would be very disappointed, if they have a surprize already cookin for me and will be presented at the last minute.

ECFMG requires copies of applicants' medical education credentials. ECFMG verifies medical education credentials with the appropriate officials of the medical school that issued them. If you have already graduated from medical school when you submit your first application to ECFMG, you must include copies of your medical diploma and a recent photograph with your application. If you are still a student when you first apply, you must send the copies of your diploma and your photograph as soon as you graduate. Once you have submitted your diploma and photograph, you do not need to resubmit them unless you are asked to do so. The exact name of the medical credential that you must provide is listed in the ECFMG Reference Guide for Medical Education Credentials. If the document you provide is not in English, you must also provide an English translation. You must also complete and submit with your medical diploma the ECFMG Medical Education Credentials Submission Form (Form 344) and Medical School Release Request (Form 345).


When ECFMG sends your medical diploma to your medical school for verification, ECFMG will request the medical school to include your final medical school transcript when the school returns the verification of your medical diploma to ECFMG.

ECFMG will notify you in writing when it sends your credentials for verification and when it receives verification of your credentials from your medical school.

Fat goiter, you should be fine. If your transcript is verified that should be fine. They require that the transcript list the courses taken and the duration.
My bf's transcript finally got verified - his school doesn't even do grades - just lists courses passed.
