answer-a cefadroxil has some gram negative coverage proteus,e.coli,kleb (peck) the last 2 are out: tetracycline -mottling of the teeth ceftriazone--(killing a fly with a hammer) not usually given for uti's, also its I.M. PCN-not enough coverage for gram negatives cotrimazole-agranulocytosis,blood dyscrasias

:icon_salut: great reasoning mjl!! lets also mention the risk for kernicterus in newborn, with Cotrimoxazole. Ceftriaxone would work in this case but it can only be administered parenterally...as u said. y is oral adm so important in pregnancy?
