a known diabetic treated with 40 units of Insulin daily is found unconscious , urine soaks her clothes, and a clinitest is performed that shows Glucose++++, your initial management should be
a. normal saline IV
b. Insulin 50 units immed
c. glucose 50 ml IV
d. blood sugar sample
e. check blood glucose

DKA causes extremely high levels of blood sugar and can result in death if left untreated. Note: if a diabetic is unconscious, never give insulin; wait for blood sugar tests given by a health care professional. To give insulin mistakenly to an unconscious diabetic in shock could be fatal

Give normal saline till blood sugar level is 250mg% .Then add glucose to the hydration regime
