Hi everybody, I just took my step 2 CK yesterday in Chicago. It was just like everybody mentions on this forum. 1. TIME - it haunted me at very first block. This block was goin fine as the qs were easy to get hold of, once i read the whole long vignette. But, then after 35 questions, I was short of time and I had to rush to finish the block. But, in next blocks, I was prepared and just scanning the vignettes, picking up the relevant points and marking answers whatever came in mind at that moment. 2. MEDICINE is ofcourse taking the lead in number of qs and all they do is keep asking the same topics like DM, HT, Hypercholesterolemia, MI, Pulm embolism.... They try to complicate the qs, twist the qs, confuse you as much they can....but, just on these topics. Sometimes, they ask simple qs but then, they give choices from A to P. But, those qs are really really simple and reading all choices would try to confuse a lot. Please dont get confused and believe in urself. 3. Step 1 reminders....Quite many of them, picked up directly from Physio Kaplans. Some slides of Patho, which were in fact, difficult than step 1 but, all doable I would say. Biochem diseases strikes back again with a new charm of Clinical vignette. No molecular biology and genetics stuff. This part is overall fun and I liked dealing with fundamental concepts of Physio. 4. Biostatistics....They cant ask much and they dont ask you to do some difficult calculations. Just dont forget the formulas of sensitivity and specificity  5. Surgery....I dont know how I did but qs were too straightforward. I dont think I read much of those cases in Kaplans, but I could answer on basis of my instinct. Something like what would you do if somebody got a thrombus in some artery.....Bypass surgery or thrombectomy or... 6. Obs/Gyn was just okay..hmm...I dont remember much. 7. ENT and Ophthalm....yes, this is something I remember and they were haunting. Quite many qs (atleast more than I expected). These topics are not much covered in Kaplan's and I was not well prepared. Qs were basically treatment based and I was just sure of diagnosis most of the time. Well, this is something, I dont know how to prepare. I marked whichever I felt I would like to do. Probably, book treatment would be different. Hope my experience helps. Though, all these experiences from ppl used to make me more worried. If you are good in medicine, you are safe, you dont need to worry much abt ENT and all that.....but, for mediocres, I would say....just do a li'l bit of these topics and note down treatment modalities.

Hi. Yeah, its a relief for the moment. I am taking CS on 20th october. Thats pretty close but you dont have to atleast dig into finer details of medicine. I hope I pass CK....That's a big hurdle for me. hey tasneem, thanks! I did use CMDT for cardiology, DM, GIT and hematology (hot topics!!). In hematology, there are new drugs of choice like Imatinib(Gleevec) for CML, Cladirabine for Multiple myeloma and like that. I used to refer the book when I was making chart of "next best step" for diseases. Son64, there was no ECG in my exam. There were 3 patho slides, 7-8 x-Rays though. Only 1 Patho slide was a direct q that....whats the diagnosis? Rest were part of a big vignette. Thanks Lucky and BC.
