In 1974 The tarasoff 1 decision states that if a clinician knows that a pt is going to kill someone he must notify the victim the pts relatives and the authorities.
In 1976 Tarasoff 1 was augmented by the Supreme Court with Tarasoff 2 by adding that the clinician "has the duty to protect"
