I am 33 years old, graduated in 94. Eventhough I am living in US for the past 5 years, I couldn't take the exams because of health reasons. Now my mind and body is ok. I am thinking of taking the step 1 in March. My question is at the age of 35 or 36, how are my chances of getting into a residency program (Family Medicine) and do the teaching hospitals consider foreign candidates of that age for admission.
Is there anyone out there in my age group preparing for Step 1.
Any reply is appreciated.
Thanks.

hey there is no age limit for taking usmle n u r not that old. i know someone who graduated from med school in 1996, took his steps in 1995-1996 n he was in states for 4 yrs n finally started his residency in 2001 when he was about to turn 31 n now he is in his last year of internal med residency. so u dont have to worry bout your age at all. cheer up n good luck smiling face

Did your 48 yo buddy get matched? I am 37 and graduated in 1995, passed both tests this year, worried if I will be able to compete with you young kids? shaking head

better to go back into medical school in the US. Then you will an AMG and will have a better prospect of matching.
