Step 1...91(224) Took 3 weeks to get the results. Step 2 CS 14th August 2004. Still awaiting results Step 2 CK 23rd September 2004. Not bothered about the results right now! (just came back home!) Now it leaves..STEP 3... someday... Greetings to everyone in the forum. Specially to people, who like me till yesterday, are finding answers to thier hard work in peoples exam experiences. I took the step 2 CK exam in London today. The centre was very conviniently located in the city & the staff were very co-operative (not for the exam answers unfortunately!) I gradually began my ascent up the exam cliff with a steady approach...did 1st block then shut my eyes for 2 min & then the 2nd. Took breaks after each block for 10 min thereafter... Research clearly states "human mind efficency decreases after roughly 60 min of concentration". So even if you think you are fresh... take at least some time off between blocks.. it DOES help ( I realsied from my step 1 experience) The questions were fairly straightforward..some of them of course were out of statistic board q bank!!!!! things to do with Vmax,Km...blah blah! which I conviniently solved in 2 sec i.e picked my favourite alphabet!!! No way was I going to spend reading more than 75%page question & A-J options!!!!!!!! On the other hand the long questions really went on & on with unnecessary details when the answer could be answered after reading the first 2 lines! But you still have to scan thru the rest of the crap in case they twist the tail at the end. There were 10-15 Q with answer options going upto Z !!!!!! but then I guess the reason for such ques is that the board expects you to know the answer once you read the wuestion rather than scan thru th eoptions & pick one! So after the question, all I had to do was to look for the answer I knew already.. & conviniently not read the rest of the junk! Time was not a problem except the last block. I finished 1st block in 40 min.. But then the rest kinda took longer & longer with subsequent block! Just prooves you physical capacity kinda tapers towards the end. There were lots of step 1 questions...so people with good recent step 1 foundation are undoubtedly at an advantage. To be honest.. in the 3rd block.. I was wondering whether I was doing the step 1 or the step 2 exam!!!! Another mention.........PATHETIC spellin mistakes in the questions! You would have thought they would have had the questions proof read before uploading on the server. I guess medicine took the chunk of the questions, surgery fair bit. Paeds was substantial..thank goodness no milestone business though. Many questions were "next step" "best step" kind. Did get a few X-rays, photographs which were fairly straightforward. There was 1 ECG...horrible print.. was bliack & white... no mention of leads on it.. but I guess it must have been a 12 lead one... & out of the 13 options given...I picked WPW syndrome..not becoz the delta wave was very obvious but becoz it just couldnt have been anything else. STUDY PATTERN Kaplan notes. Read once. Q book...(Scored average 78%) med 7 sets, gyne 1, paeds 1. USMLE World left out 700 ques. Final score 67% (Range 50-78%). USMLE CD Block 1: 42, Block 2 :44, Block 3 :43 Kaplan diagnostic test : 71 % Kaplan board simulated test 74% My prep was like an intellectual enema... crammed 15 days reading the Kap notes. Solved q book in the same time.. bed time reading! 5 days for USMLE world. Didnt do kaplan q bank..no time. After all the prep...before I forget the matter... took the exam immediately!! Any furterh questions...happy to help... all the best to everyone...keep cool.. it is a physical test as well besides a mental one... so practise practise....
