Hi people, bbb,

I've been reading postings in this forum and they've helped me so much especially bbb's. First pardon me for mentioning lowly programs... for PDs in this forum, no offense.. It's just for drawing attention (if it works at all).

I have a question here and I hope someone can give his/her advice. I posted in some other forums because I figured the more brains that think, the better.

My cred: 95/95/-/waiting for CS/no USCE/1 publ/grad 2002/B2 visa. I've been offerred externship position at KUMC Wichita for Jan 2005.

I am determined to apply to only good university programs if I am to end up with J1 visa. I don't stand much chance with my current cred I suppose. What would you guys do? Resorting to any programs this year or do the externship first and try applying next year if I don't get university programs this year?

Thanks,

Yuno

I guess that it depends on YOU!!!!!!!!! How are your interviewing skills? Will you fit with the other residents in the programs that you interview with? Do your homework about the program. Ask good, smart questions. Be personable.

You have great scores, you will have USCE by the time that you start residency (with the externship in January) - these are good things. Get most of your interviews before this starts, especially if this is a program that you are going to seriously consider. If you have to take time from your externship for interviews, the powers-that-be in that program might not think that you are serious about them, nicht wahr?

Good luck

Thank you for such prompt response bbb. You are the man/woman/whatever smiling face

The reason I was asking that question was because I haven't got any call from university programs so far whereas some people I know of already have. Well, it's too early to think that I'm not gonna get one, isn't it? I'll just keep my finger crossed.

God bless you,

Yuno
