hi I am from Pakistan and there has been this saying that its simply suicide giving ck bfr step1 but since i was preparing for mccqe1(canadian boards) which is all clinical i decided to take the risk and it paid off well.In my opinion ck bfr step1 is not a bad idea if u have done ur step1 pharma and BS(that too focusing clinical aspect)well and a superficial read of patho.
Prep:
7 months...8hrs a day avg (ALso gave mccee and mccqe1 (canadian exams)durin the 7 month prep time)
Toronto notes 5 times plus 2 quick revisions.
kaplan step1 pharma
kaplan step1 BS
kaplan step2 peds
kaplan qbook
no kaplan material except mentioned abv
no FA no nbme
no usmle cd no video dvds/lec
Uw:1time timed unused=69%

UW: 1st time was between 65 - 75%. 2nd time was over 80%
Kaplan Qbank: did 85% of it and got 74%.
Kaplan Qbook: read just one or two blocks in internal.. not important.
NBME 3 : 510 ( 6 weeks before the exam )
NBME 2 : 650 ( 3 weeks before )
USMLE CD : 42,38,39 ( 2 weeks before )

hi there,
my name is gabriel and I sat for the exam on 28 may, wednesday
my scores were UW 61%( first time, unused questions)( did 2 times till exam-very useful)
kaplan Q bank did only 20 tests averaged around 70 s 2 weeks before exam
nbme 1 (6 weeks before exam) - 540
nbme 3 ( 4 weeks before exam) - 580
nbme 2 ( 2 days before exam) - 590
that's it for now... I have to wait for the results and hope I won't lose it 
allright I got my score on 18 june and there is a 99/247 my step1 was 243/99  supper dupper happpy

Kaplan Q bank: 71%/ completed 70% questions
Prep Materials: First aid and Boards and Wards one full time through each.
I only did sets of 46 random questions timed. I reviewed all questions and explanations. As I reviewed my tests and the books I wrote down everything I was not 100% sure I knew in one notebook (I never went back and read it but writing it down helped me to learn it) and in another notebook I made a list of things to review the day before (small details I have a hard time remembering and formulas- took me about 1-2 hrs to review)

Step 2 CK.
Score Reported 3 weeks and 3 days later.
Kaplan Qbank: did all questions. 74% correct.
USMLE World: did all questions. 66% correct.
NBME 1: 600
NBME 2: 580
Step 2 CK Score: 99/238
Study as hard as you can. This test is actually easier to study for than Step 1, but the exam might be trickier because you answer the questions by logic, not by memory (hence you never know if you are TRULY right unless its a very easy question).
My advice:
For study material, i think the most important thing is UWorld and FA. Period. Everything else helps (kaplan etc), but UW and FA are key to this test.
Be realistic. Only take the test if you feel you studied responsibly, and if your UW/Qbnk Scores tell you its responsible to take the test. With that in mind, you have your part of the deal covered. Anything can happen, but if you did your job and took the test when you had to, then you took the right decision in taking the test. This peace of mind helps you a lot during the test.
Basically. Have faith in yourself, and have faith in God. (thank you God for helping me)
