Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what CA licensing prerequisites are for an IMG.
The quote from the FSMB website for the time limit on passing the USMLE says: "Passing scores on a written/computerized exam shall be valid for a period of ten (10) years from the month of the examination"
Does this mean that in order to be eligible for CA license, you must have passed the first USMLE exam within 10 year of applying for CA licensure?
In my specific case, I passed my first USMLE in March of 2008 (I'm currently just missing Step 3 to complete all Steps). Does this mean I need to have finished 24 months of residency by March 2018 and apply for licensing in CA?
Or does this mean I need to take USMLE Step 3 by March 2018? And what happens after 10 years? Do the steps start "expiring" or are do you just become forever ineligible for licensing in CA?
I'd love to hear anyone who knows what they are talking about, vs. conjectures and intelligent guesses. Thanks!
