does anyone know the pathophyz of diastolic hypertension? i know that hardening of the arteries causes systolic hypertension but i can't find the cause of diastolic hypertension.

excessive inappropriate aldosterone production will produce a diastolic hypertension picture along with hypokalemia.
the hypertension is due to increased sodium reabsorption

I dont think there is Isolated Diastolic hypertension. Yes there is Isolated systolic Hypertension. Diastolic hypertension is seen along with systolic HT and anything which increases the peripheral vascular resistance( increase in volume or solute olad or autonomilcaly mediated constriction etc etc etc) will cause diastolic HT as well.

Isolated Diastolic Ht Does Exist and is a recognised feature in some Elderly People.
