is there any effect of drugs inducing or inhibiting enzymes like P450 on normal endogenous metabolic processes?

totally! for example, a woman on phenobarb (or phenytoin or carbamazepine....) can get pregnant from breakdown of ocps.

i guess that's not a totally natural process : ) ok, how about phenobarb turning up heme breakdown leading to exacerbation of AIP?

well thanx for reply bluedusk. the 2nd one is what i wanted to know. someone said that enzyme inducers increase the metabolism, this gives u feeling like that in increased metabolic states eg hyper thyroidism like tachycardia etc etc. Thats why i put this Qn
