Is galactokinase deficiency (GD) a milder condition compared to classic galactosemia? The description from GD saying it is a mild condition had me confused since classic galactosemia is deficient in uridyl transferase from the same pathway.
Wouldn't a deficiency due to each enzyme lead to increased amounts of sorbitol via aldose reductase?
Just wondering why GD is considered mild - and classic galactosemia sounds much worse.
