Hi Mocherla, I have 2 children also & was working but now stopped to focus on my career. I really love being a doctor & thought it's the only thing I want to do aside from being a Mom too. My style is as soon as i dropped off my kids to school I study right away & have been doing that for the last 6 mos. I am glad I found this site & serves as my motivation also bec. of the people here who ae very encouraging & did well on the exam. My advice is for you to pursue your career , start studying right now. You"re on the right track, start buying your tools for the review. Can I ask you this? Why did you do PA? If you're not happy w/ it now there's no way that u will be happy tomorrow if thats something you really don't want to be. I know there's a lot of things to consider but do whatever makes you happy. One more advice, since we have our children now it's different. When we were single students we can study anytime we want, it is totally diff. when u have kids. Of course they are still our priority so if you can balance things very well GO FOR IT! If you need lists of review books let me know. I'm prepping for step 2.

Hi Mocherla I think I CAN advise you , since I graduated in 1992. I am done with step 1, and I gave both step 2 CK, and step 2 CS (Waiting for the results.) .Well, to say that preparing for steps (12 years after the graduation) is hard .....is an understatement. It was phenomenonally hard in the initial stages of preparation. But once I am done with step 1, I got my confidence back, and I knew that I can do it.Bythe way, I did my postgraduation in Pediatric medicine and then worked as a senior Resident in Pediatrics for 5 years.I practiced Pediatrics for few years as consultant.I have a wife(Physician) and a son, but then the motivation has come from with in.It is not monetary, it is not fear of failure , but it was motivation to excell in the NO.1 country , that kept me going. If I could do that, (12 years after Graduation) YOU MOST CERTAINLY CAN DO THAT. Bravo, all the very best in your preparation let me know if I can help you in any way. TAKE CARE

Hi , I am 9 years post graduation with a husband and two kids (5 and 2)and have been basically out of medicine for the past six years I just completed an MPH here in US and am just getting myself together to begin studying.I pray God makes a way for me to get through all of this. Please advise me do you think it is better to tackle step 1 or step 2 first considering the length of time out of medicine.By the way Itook both exams before an failed with 67 and 68 (5 years ago)I was very discouraged and chickened out. I have already started t o gather some step 2 material but have nothing on step 1 yet Pls advise Thanks Rehoboth
