Hi, I'm Indonesian and I've been denied visa 3 times before I finally got one. I don't know if my situation applies to yours, but let me just tell you what I did. On the 4th try, I included a sponsor letter from a US doctor stating that he would make sure that I would return to my country after the test. I also got letter from Indonesian professor but the consular officer just read it fast and didn't make copy out of it. Hope this helps. GL jbk PS : I was unemployed and single at that time, still am now btw.

Again, I don't know your situation. There's a notion in my country that if you've just been denied a visa, you'd better wait for another 6 months before reapply. Does it affect your chances next time? I don't know about this myself. The next 2 rejections after the first were based on my previous rejection. However, on the last one I wasn't even asked why I got denied 3 times. I'd say having been to another western country or having a sponsor letter would help. GL, jbk

Hi y'all. My visa application was denied yesterday. It took him less than 5 minutes to reject my application. Reason: I am single and unemployed. He told me to get a letter from a US hospital stating they will sponsor my visa....and to get a job. Anyways, anybody here who knows how I can refund my Step 2 CS fee (if at all it's possible)? I am eligible until June 2005, but I have decided to take it in 2006. Life is soooOooo unfair!!!

Hey lander. We are exactly in the same boat. I was already denied twice. My appeal was also rejected, and my Step 2 CS expires June 2005. I have already written to this Roman Mizak in ECFMG, and they tell me we can only request for the refund (which is possible if you can't get a visa) after our date expires. So I guess we'll have to wait until then. Good luck!

To Lucky: I was accepted in a Dermatology program here in my country. So I plan to take the CS and step 3 during or after residency (during my vacation leave). That way, I can show the consular officer my employment certificate and maybe increase my chances of obtaining a visa. Good luck to you my friend. I hope you get matched next year. To crossingmyfingers: I sent an e-mail to permit@ecfmg.org and they told me that they are currently updating the rules regarding refund for CS or something like that. They said to check the ecfmg website regularly for details. Hey, do you know if we can put the 1,200 dollars on our ecfmg account? I mean, we will still gonna take step 2 CS eventually, right? Why not put it in our accounts. Is it possible?

Applicants registered for Step 2 CS who are unable to obtain the appropriate visa to enter the United States to take the exam may request a full refund of the exam fee. Other requests for exceptions from Step 2 CS applicants are considered on a case-by-case basis. ECFMG will consider requests for exceptions only after the applicant's eligibility period has expired This is from the letter they sent me. The refund is really now official. It wasn't before, but only for those with visa problems. About putting the money in the account, well, there was no mention of that, but we can maybe suggest it. At least they don't lose the money and we get to extend our deadlines, right? Everyone happy. It's worth a try.

Hello everyone ! I`m going to start my internship and i`m considering taking USMLE. should i take steps 1 and 2 in india , and then take up MPH in the US and do the rest there. or should i do all steps in the US ? I have travelled to the US once 2 years ago. does that make it easier to get visa if i do step 1 & 2 here.
