To develop a screening test for psychiatric illness, it is necessary because it will affect

sensitivity
specificity
predictive value
odd ratio
early intervention

  #2

I think - specificity

This is a step-1 thing; I think you want sensitivity for a screening test and specificity for a diagnostic test, or maybe the other way around. Anyone???

early intervention because it influences the outcome

will affect sensitivity & specificity

The goal of any screening test is to identify the "risk" group so we can intervene early... SO I would have to go with early Intervention. We do not know the sensitivity or specifity until we develop the test and adminster it and then compare the results to another gold standard test.

well thats my answer and reasoning..
