i don't know that there's a legal answer, but i think adolescents often feel more comfortable without the parents. probably if the kid asks to be seen alone, it's up to the parent as long as they're not emancipated. would also guess that if the md feels that kid is uncomfortable, fair to ask if they'd like to be seen alone....
