It tooks 4 to 8 weeks, as far as I know. And at the time you get your pass result, if everything is ok with your other papers and requirements you will be certified by that time...

thanks for the prompt reply...let me get this right... I probably will get reults September end. I am due to take step2 CK on 23rd September & hopefully get the results by October end. By that time if my papers are ok, I will be certified as well? Or will it take another 4-8 weeks after October for the rest of the certification procedure to happen. Are ECFMG prompt with this? Am I seeing November 2004 as a tentative date for registration? Correct me if I am wrong...

Not necessarily 4-8 weeks, may be more than that, before they will be able to scale the results. USMLE says first results will be released "late in fall", and fall doesn't even start till September 22nd... check this out: http://www.usmle.org/step2/Step2CS/Step2CSRPs.htm

You can check the schedule on ECFMG website if you would like to register for Step2 CS. I just called ECFMG yesterday, the officer told me that no Step2 CS score will be released until November. A big headache.

guys first batch of CS results is 'expected' to be released by end october and than hopefully regularly 6 weeks after ur exam. i have heard that it takes about 2 weeks to get ur ecfmg certificate after passing all ur exams. Dont know why they had to do all this in this very year.

Hi nonstopdoc1, where did you get an information about results being released at the end of october? All I could find was "late in fall" I took my CS on July 17th, worried more and more about getting the result in time for my application to be considered... Good luck to all!

Just heard from a program director that he has an applicant who has been waiting for his results since taking the test in July. So nothing is out yet. They are quite worried because they don't grant interviews unless you are ECFMG certified by the application deadline. I just hope once they start releasing results it will be quickly!!!

Hey guys... actually I am no ECFMG fan.. but here.. I think it is not ECFMG to be blamed entirely. ECFMG is just a body that deals with IMGs. It doesnt conduct the USMLE. The USMLE is conducted by some entire different organisation. ECFMG is like a dean for IMGs. Take for example the NYU med school dean... he/she doesnt have anything to do with release of the scores. The dean will release scores as soon as it is available to him/herself. SO in this case I do agree with the ECFMG lady I spoke to yesterday... ECFMG is not the culprit this time. Nevertheless....uuuuuuuuuuuuuughhhh CS results!!!!

Whoever is the culprit ,but its really hard for all of us . Very lengthy waiting time ,that too for a good application we need to get certified ASAP.

You bet asmi... I did post a topic in the match forum about the problem of not being certified. Some of the hopsitals .. dont know that it is not the IMGs fault that certification is not granted. Even the place where I did observers .. didnt know & I had to clarify the situation to them..but what about the other hospitals where we dont have a chance fo clarifications!! Well...... the wait goes on!

I took my exam on november first, obviously i donīt have my results either. Nevertheless, i have been granted 7 interviews already, i have been to 3 of them, and the fact of no having my results was not an issue on any of them. I was browsing the usmle site and they clearly say that people who take the exam after dec 31st is unlikely to have the results on time... I am sure they are wroking as fast as they can to release the results for the rest of us who took the trouble to apply on time... at least I hope so. I received an offer of an off-match position, and I wouldnīt like to loss it because someoneīs not doing its job. By the way... is it just me? or everyone think that made a huge load of imprecisions, omisions and mistakes in step 2 CS?? I did really well in the first 2 steps, but i can tell you... i made incredibly dumb mistakes out of nervousness and rushing in the step 2 cs. I know that in the good old CSA you could pass if you could comunicate... now, in step 2 cs i am not so sure. The fact that IMGs performances are going to be standardized with american graduates makes me think that the standars for passing are going to be higher. Also, the fact that they are gathering data before releasing results points to the same direction. Am I doomed? I wonder...

My chances on west coast are looking doomed because of not being certified before dec 1st. I really hate ecfmg and whoever responsible for this

I did speak to some program coordinators yesterday , explained them about why the delay in certification is due to . They said , as long as we apply early via eras ,we still have chance ,they will consider .While few others said ,they want us to be certified before they grant interviews. Anyways we should remain optimistic .

According to an ECFMG(r) newletter, The ECFMG(r) Reporter An E-Newsletter for International Medical Graduates Pursuing Graduate Medical Education in the United States Issue Sixty-Three - November 19, 2004 As previously announced, the initial release of results for Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS) has been delayed. The purpose of this delay is to allow for administration of the examination to a number of examinees that is adequate to permit completion of quality assurance, scoring, and equating procedures. This work is nearly complete for examinations at the Philadelphia and Atlanta centers, the first two centers to open for Step 2 CS administration. Similar work is progressing for the remaining three centers. Reporting of Step 2 CS results will begin in early December. At that time, results will be reported for most examinees who tested in Philadelphia and Atlanta from June through the end of September. However, it is possible that results for some examinees who tested in Philadelphia and Atlanta during this period will be reported in the weeks that follow. For examinees who tested in Philadelphia or Atlanta in more recent months, reporting of results will continue throughout December and January. For examinees who tested at the Los Angeles and Chicago centers, the reporting of results will likely begin in mid- to late-December. For examinees who tested in Houston, reporting of results will likely begin in early January. As with reporting for the Philadelphia and Atlanta centers, the first release for each center will consist of results for examinees who tested in the initial months of test administration for that center; reporting of results for more recent examinees will occur at later dates. As previously published, a specific date for reporting of results cannot be guaranteed, regardless of the date on which Step 2 CS is taken. However, for those examinees who test prior to January 1, 2005, a high priority will be assigned to processing results as quickly as possible so that international medical graduates, who are required to have these results for the National Resident Matching Program ("the Match"), will have a good chance of meeting Match deadlines. Those who take Step 2 CS later than December 31, 2004 are unlikely to have results available for the Match. After the start-up period for all centers is complete, it is anticipated that results will be available for most examinees approximately 6 weeks after test administration.
