Hi Guys and gals here is an account of my experience with step 2 CS. I was tested in 12 clinical encounters and was told that one of them is for experimental purposes and not used for evaluation.I dont know which one of them though.I took PIPE exam a couple of months prior to the real one and to state that it has helped is an understatement.I had post MD(Pediatrics) 5 years experience and has been living in US for last one and half years. So , interviewing the patient (aka data gathering in USMLE words) and spoken English are not problem at all. That left me with interpersonal skills.I had good reputation and practice in my native country and I have quickly realised that human bonding , relationships and responses are the SAME throughout the world.I could develop insatnt rapport with all most all the patients and to be fair to them all of the patients are cooperative as well.Sure they dont volunteer the information but then they always do when prompted. With just 5 minutes left for the physical examaination, one can hardly do any other thing except the invloved system( for example GIT in painabdomen) .There was one pediatrics case too,(a phone call) and I just lived through that moment ( I had been in Pediatrics for a decade and more...after my MBBS)and all in all it was good fun and not difficult at all.USMLE centre staff were courteous and helpful at all times and have provided good food and some humor too. for all fresh graduates though, I suggest plenty of practice on all common symptoms and that really really goes a long long way in making the exam experience really enjoyable. ALL THE VERY BEST FOR ALL THE FUTURE EXAMINEES
