Hi guys, I really need your help

My creds: 2012 grad, 269/264/PASS, need J1/H1, NO USCE, 1,5 year research experience in home country (as med student), no publications.

Situation: Desires neurology residency.

What are my options?

I'm thinking that applying for a categorical spot in neuro is going to be tough with my creds. Is the following an option?

A) 2012: Apply for prelim year IM starting July 2013

B) 2013: Start prelim year in IM and apply for advanced neuro residency starting in 2014. Can I get this with only foreign neurology LOR?

I greatly appreciate any answers - please note if you yourself have or if you know anyone who has matched with same story as me!

Thanks guys,

And would you just apply for a preliminary year in internal medicine on MyERAS in 2012, then apply for advanced neurology in 2013?

You have awesome credentials Obecalp - you just need to show your interest in Neurology via your personal statement and interviews, I don't think you'll have a tough time finding a categorical spot. Your scores will get you till the interviews - and in the interviews, it's upto you to charm them smiling face

That's reassuring, but I'm not sure I'm too optimistic. Thanks!
