I believe they work on the distal tubule to increase Na reabsorption, thus you get a + Na balance and increased ECF volume.
[In general salt and water retention with large doses]
More common in pts with CHF, renal ds. , cirrhosis or hypoproteinemia.
The Rx is administation of a natriuretic.

glucocorticoids (seroids causing cushing) have mild aldosterone like activity which is the basis of effevt narrated by mjl1717

as far s I 'm concerned {Mc Phee path.phys.} glucocorticoids can act like minealcortic.
first of all they can stimulate angiotensinogen secretion from liver  :icon_arrowup: of aniotensin II(ONLY if d negative feeback of renin doesnt work properly).
besides ACTH when is high stimulates d secretion of deoxycorticosterone which when it is in high levels in circulation is a potent minealcorticoid.
in addition it is said that glucocorticoids can sensitize smooth muscles of d vasculature in combination with d cateholamines action.. :o
