are u referring to the confirmation notice?
from the ecfmg scheduling site:
Print the Confirmation Notice
Once you confirm a testing appointment, Step 2 CS Scheduling will provide a confirmation notice that you can print for your records. The confirmation notice provides your scheduled test date, test center, session (AM or PM), and other important information. It is recommended that you bring the confirmation notice to the test center on your test date.
If you did not print your confirmation notice when you scheduled or you need an additional copy, you can use Step 2 CS Scheduling to print the confirmation notice for your currently-scheduled testing appointment.
just go to ecfmg.org then click on CS scheduling and have your confirmation notice printed. i think that's what they were telling you on the phone.

hello any o U guys there ?? I have nt received my permit either , neither that kind o an email, all I got was a conformation that my applic was recvd by them n is in process , I am so confused , will I be able2 make heads o tails out of how 2 schedule for CS date ?? pls any of U can help me ? So that I can help my nerves settle by not worrying too much about HOW TO ??

well u can print it from ecfmg site.
still if u dont have it, they will allow u to sit in exam only if u have 2 different pieces of id with u. cos they too have ur name on the list. dont they ?
