Q A pt complains to the physician of a chronic pain & tingling to the buttocks .Pain is exacerbated when the buttocks are compressed by sitting on a toilet seat or chair for long periods . No lumbar pain is noted. Pain is elicited when the physician performs freiberg's maneuver ,in which there is forceful internal rotation of the extended thigh. Most likely diagnosis is A. Disc compression of sciatic nerve B. Fibromyalgia C. Pyriformis Syndrome D. Popliteus Tenditis E. Post Femoral muscle strain

Freiberg's maneuver of forceful internal rotation of the extended thigh elicits buttock pain by stretching the piriformis muscle, and Pace's maneuver elicits pain by having the patient abduct the legs in the seated position, which causes a contraction of the piriformis muscle.
