Brought this up in the chat last night, not a real question but just curious to peoples thought on this topic Pt with Ulcerative Colitis starts smoking, what do you tell him?

tell him smoking is injurious to health and can lead to other complications. explain if patient seems willing to listen. explain its additive effects with UC.

Its documented that smoking is protective against Alzheimers ds. no comment on the U.C.

Hi Go to http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic2336.htm Find answer there. Smoking is negatively associated with ulcerative colitis. This relationship is reversed in Crohn disease.
