3 days after thyroidectomy woman was euthyroid then suddenly develops tachycardia and fever, what is your diagnosis? A. Thyroid crisis B. Thyrotoxicosis C. Atelectasis

i think it is thyroid storm ,which is a extreme form of thyrotoxicosis so i go for B

but isnt thyroid crisis more common during surgery bec of lack of proper medications to prevent excessive release of hormones. i mean---can thyroid crisis present 3 days post-surgery????

Thyroid crisis , thyroid storm;the exacerbation of symptoms that occurs in thyrotoxicosis following shock or injury or after thyroidectomy; marked by rapid pulse (140 to 170 per minute), nausea, diarrhea, fever, loss of weight, extreme nervousness, and a sudden rise in the metabolic rate; coma and death may occur; occasionally the entire clinical picture is that of profound prostration, weakness, and collapse, without the phase of muscular overactivity and tachycardia
