Greeetings to everyon ein the forum. This post comes straight from a cyber cafe in downtown Philly. Just finished the CS. I originally had October 10th date in Atlanta.. one fine day there was a vacancy for 14th August in Philly.. & so taking advantage of ECFMGs new rule of waiver fo IMGs before Sept 1.. I went ahead & scheduled the date for August 14th on the 10th of August!!!! SO one can guess what kind of preparation I must have done After the exam today.. I am all confused as to the existance of such an exam!!! There were no real patients.. so there was no actual clinical finding in any of them!!! All the patients s were very nice , co-operative. Also the centre staff were all on our side & other than helping in the actual exam itself they tried everything to make us comfortable. The cases were straightforward. I only read the 40 cases on this web site once & they wer emore than suffiecient. I did not practise any cases with anyone but then i have been practising medcue as a registrar in AE. so did not have much problem. Take care of the time ..otherwise no probs. All the best. Any specific queries.. I will be happy to answer. Will now fly back home to London to study for the real exam.. CK!!!

hi again. just a question, how many differential diagnosis did u tell the patient? and if u considered cancer or any serious disease, did u mention it to the patient or did u just go around it? example- "you probably have an obstruction in the esophagus which may be due to either a tumor or stricture."

I was frank & told " there is a slight possiblility of a sinister cause to your symptoms such as a cancer & it is imperitvie that we rule that out. Are you with me so far?" Any questions? Sorry fo rthe late reply... didnt know you had posted this query... didnt get an e-mail which one normally gets if a new post has been added. Hope you catch this on time.....

I took my Cs 1o days ago. I can't stop thinking in all the questions I forgot to make, and all the things I forgot to register in the patient note. The sole thinking of torturing myself with all the mistakes, impresicions and omision until I get my results, terrifies me. I did really good with my theoretical exams. I spoke a clear english all the time, and I kept a good bedside manner. What I am worried about is the content of the encounter and most of all my patient notes. I found 15 minutes to be incredibly little to greet, stablish rapport, question, examine, elaborate diagnostic workup, explain, answer questions, and leave. I was nervous, I rushed, and in doing so, I left important information behind. Is it just me?? or did that happen to everybody?? It would be great to hear from someone who took he exam and knows his/her results... unfortunately, that doesn´t seem to be possible.
