The ans. is C ?

  #5

d. i think this question is just testing that you know renin is produced by the jg cells, in the afferent arterioles, so would be most accurately quantitated in the renal veins.

  #6

it is a tricky q.

  #7

so what is the final say on this q guys. I think it is d.

  #8

Ans is C. Rt renal art Vs left renal art.

As there is occlusion in the Rt side there will be increase in renin activity so the ans should be C.

  #9

kmp, the renin is release in the arterioles, so you would see it in the veins, not the arteries.

  #10

I checked it out in the Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine. The renin will be increased in right renal vein. The answer is D.

  #11

yes the ans is D Rt renal vein Vs left renal vein.

thanx bluedusk for letting me know renine will be seen in the veins. I did not know about it.

Tricky. I put Rvs.L renal artery but the discussion clears it up. Thanks

Where's the question?

  #14

I don't know exactly but as I recall:

Pt is hypertensive and found to have right renal artery stenosis. Question is where should we measure renin level to determine the source of the elevated renin and account for the htn?

choices
a. R vs. L renal artery
b. R vs. L renal vein
c. other choices that i ruled out and could not remember

The discussion here was focusing on whether the renin measurement should occur on the arterial or venous side.

Thanks Turtle
